A bug in Windows Player 11 prevent Weed files being bought. So Weed is suspending today to come back stronger...
Even if it is still possible to buy songs via Winamp and Real Audio, it's becoming difficult for Weed to keep the Microsoft Play For Sure Format. Since the Microsoft decision to change the PFS for Ready to Play Format, they do not support PFS anymore. The bug is WMP11 doesn't accept header in the file. This was the only means for Weed to control the paiement and the licence.
In addition, recently Apple and EMI has announced to stop DRM format. So more than never it's time for Weed to focus on its new format. It was already in the pipe but there wasn't an hurry. With these two new events things have changed. The new Weed format will be independant of Operating System and plateforms. As before you will be able to enjoy Weed files on PC with any Windows version but on MAC, HP, over MAC OS, Linux. Tomorrow with all the mobile phones, PDAs, Digital music players that will be network-capable Weed files could be shared without DRM as well. I let you imagine the freedom to discover music we will have. The so expected revolution!
From its side Altermuzik will keep its first goal: Promote the artists by any means necessary. Step by step the platforme will be more and more social network to prepare its community to this revolution. First things that will change it's that you could listen the music as many time you want and will be up to artists to set the songs payable or not.
